ConceptSubstance Use Summary
DescriptionOverview of use or consumption of a defined substance, including caffeine, alcohol, tobacco, volatile substances and illicit drugs.
UseUse to record a summary of the pattern of use for any and all forms of a substance, and about multiple episodes of use of the substance over time.
MisuseNot to be used to record summary information about alcohol or tobacco use - use the specialised archetypes OBSERVATION.substance_use_summary-alcohol and/or OBSERVATION.substance_use_summary-tobacco. Not to be used to capture event-based information about substance use, such as a Diary of substance use - use the OBSERVATION.substance_use archetype and its specific specialisations.
PurposeTo build up and record an ongoing and persistent summary about the use of a substance by the individual. (with the exception of substances such alcohol and tobacco, for which a specialised version of this archetype has been created).
